How good quality web design benefits your business

You may be aware that having good quality web design is an investment well worth making. Having professional help when it comes to crafting a website that’s not only aesthetically pleasing, but also performs well could make all the difference when it comes to increasing conversions. SMEs know their business inside out, but that doesn’t always translate to having an effective website. There are plenty of aspects to think about, from the user experience to content marketing and beyond, it all starts however with good quality web design. Here we’ve highlighted some key ways that having good web design can give your business a boost.

Gives your business an identity

When it comes to good design, it’s all about making sure your brand doesn’t get lost. By having a visual identity, it’s more likely that your business is going to stay in the mind of the customer. If, for example, a customer comes across the same logo on your business card and your website, you stand a good chance of making a memorable impression. Don’t stop there though, you can extend your visual identity to social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter. By taking those simple steps, you can quickly give yourself an advantage over your competitors in Jersey.

Stand out

If you’re in a crowded industry, you may find that your website looks very similar to your competitors. If we take telecommunications as an example, a lot of sites within that industry have a similar layout and look. They may, on the surface at-least, be good websites, but they don’t stand out. The design will be inoffensive and the content will be neither engaging or disengaging. This is all well and good but to stand out, you’re going to want to stand up and state clearly exactly why it is you are special. That doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re going to have to go over the top on graphics, but you are going to have to ensure that all of your USPs are clearly folded within your visual identity.

Retain interest

A common mistake SMEs make is that they believe getting ‘clicks’ on their site is a good thing. Whilst it’s important that you have a constant stream of visitors on your site, it’s much more important to retain their interest once they are on it. Poor web design can result in something called a high bounce rate. Having a high bounce rate means that customers who come to your site are quickly going elsewhere because they’ve either been put off by your sites look, or they haven’t been able to find what they’re looking for. Good web design on the other hand can not only keep people interested, but it may make them more willing to make a purchase.

More customers

You already know that having more customers is nothing but a good thing, but you may not know that there is a specific science behind web design that could lead to your business gaining customers. By simply having well placed calls to action, you could notice an increase in customers and conversions. Calls to action can range from buy buttons to giving customers the option to sign up for a newsletter, so the more you have, the more chances you will give yourself when it comes to converting potential clients into customers.

Letting your content shine

Having great content is one thing, but it needs to be aligned with your visual identity. A lot of people put in a great deal of effort when it comes to clearly getting across what they are trying to say. Unfortunately this can occasionally mean large blocks of text or a confusing user experience which can end up directing people away from your site. Having a good designer work with you on your site can lead towards coming up with the perfect blend of informative content and good visuals.

Room for additional development

Designing a website is just the start, as time goes by you will want to continually update your website as-well as make improvements. By having high quality design, you’re giving yourself the foundation you need for any improvements you may wish to make. It may be adding a new product or an additional service, so having an aesthetically pleasing site that works well gives you a strong starting point for any web development tasks you want to undertake.

Long term savings

Having effective design can ultimately end up saving your business money. A lot of companies who invest in poorly thought out web design may end up paying out again for another designer to make changes. Ultimately, you want a site that’s going to retain your visitor’s attention, increase conversion and allows you to make changes. If you find that, a couple of years down the line your products or services change, you’re going to want to be able to make changes without having to invest in a brand new website. Ultimately, high quality web design is always going to save you money in the long run.
