AI is everywhere. Every week there’s a new tool, a new headline, a new must-have platform promising to transform your business overnight.

It’s exciting, sure. But also completely overwhelming. Especially if you’re running a busy organisation and thinking, “Where the hell do we even start?”

Let’s bring it back to something simple and practical.

Look for repetitive work that’s draining time

AI works best when it takes over tasks that are dull, manual or high-frequency.

Take a look at your team’s workflow. Is someone spending hours entering data into spreadsheets? Manually booking appointments? Copying and pasting between systems?

These are perfect candidates for automation. AI won’t replace your people, but it can free them from the repetitive slog so they can focus on work that actually needs a human brain.

Forget big projects. Start with small wins

You don’t need a six-month roadmap or a massive budget to start using AI.

Look for just one quick win. Something that saves time, reduces mistakes or speeds things up. Maybe that’s a customer service chatbot. An automated invoice generator. A smart email summariser. Or even a meeting scheduler that just works.

Start small. Test it. If it helps, keep going.

Make it measurable

The key to making AI work is knowing whether it’s actually working.

Once you can prove it’s helping, it becomes a lot easier to get buy-in and scale up. That’s when AI starts being less of a buzzword and more of a genuine advantage.

AI doesn’t need to be abstract or intimidating. It can simply be a tool that removes busywork and helps your team focus on what matters most.

The secret is to start where you are. Keep it practical. Measure the results.
