Jersey has always been known for innovation.

Long before it became a global finance centre, the island built its reputation on something far more tangible. Craft. Industry. Making things that lasted.

One of the most recognisable examples of that heritage is the jersey jumper. Designed for practicality, built for harsh conditions, and worn by those who needed something reliable. It was simple, effective, and unmistakably tied to the island.

Over time, the world moved on. Industries evolved. Jersey adapted, as it always does.

But the idea of creating something local, something distinctive, something that solves a real problem… that hasn’t gone anywhere.

A slightly different direction

At Blue Llama, we spend most of our time helping organisations modernise. Improving systems. Streamlining processes. Making things work better.

So this might feel like a slightly unusual direction.

Over the past few months, we’ve been exploring a simple question:

What would it look like to take something from Jersey’s past… and reimagine it using modern technology?

Not as a nostalgia project.
But as something practical. Something current. Something… new.

The experiment

The result is something we’ve been quietly working on behind the scenes.

A project that combines artificial intelligence with cutting-edge genetic research.

A project designed to bring the jersey… back to Jersey.

We’ve called it Blue Llama Biotech.

A final thought

Jokes aside, the idea behind this isn’t actually that far removed from what we do every day.

Taking something that already exists… and finding a smarter, more modern way to make it work better.

Sometimes that means automating a process.
Sometimes it means rethinking how a team operates.
And sometimes… it means building something entirely new.

(Although usually not involving llamas.)
