What is the Jersey Productivity Grant?

Jersey businesses have a unique opportunity to boost productivity, reduce costs, and future-proof their operations with the Better Business Grant.

As part of a £20 million support package from the Government of Jersey, £5.3 million has been allocated to help businesses enhance efficiency, invest in staff training, and explore new opportunities in the visitor economy.

For most businesses, the real value lies in the Productivity Grant, which offers up to 50% matched funding for projects focused on streamlining processes, introducing automation, and improving customer experiences.

But to maximise the value of the Better Business Grant, you need more than just a good idea.

You need a clear plan, a compelling application, and a reliable partner to ensure the improvements are implemented effectively.

How much can you apply for?

  • Major grants: £5,000 to £75,000 for businesses operating for 18+ months.
  • Minor grants: £1,000 to £5,000 for businesses operating for 6+ months.

Because the grants operate on a 50/50 matched funding basis, this means if your project costs £20,000, your business contributes £10,000, and the grant covers the remaining £10,000.

How to get the most out of the Productivity Grant

To maximise the value of your grant, it’s crucial to approach the process with a clear plan and a focus on measurable outcomes.

Here’s how to ensure your business benefits fully:

Step 1: Identify high-impact projects for your business

The first step is to pinpoint areas where your business can see the biggest productivity improvements.

Evaluate your current processes:

  • Look at repetitive manual tasks that consume time and resources.
  • Identify inefficiencies that slow down operations or frustrate your team.

Consider digital transformation:

  • Explore how AI, automation, and smarter workflows can reduce manual tasks.
  • Think about web improvements that enhance user experiences and increase conversions.

Prioritise high-impact projects:

  • Focus on initiatives that will improve process efficiency, cut costs, and boost revenue.

Step 2: Build a strong application

A well-prepared application can make all the difference between approval and rejection. To strengthen your application:

  • Document your current state: Collect data on inefficiencies, costs, and operational bottlenecks.
  • Highlight expected outcomes: Clearly demonstrate how the proposed project will improve productivity, reduce costs, and enhance customer experiences.
  • Show strong financial projections: Outline expected cost savings and ROI to show that the project is a smart investment.

💡 Pro tip:
Blue Llama can help and support your business to create data-driven, persuasive applications that highlight the measurable benefits of our proposed projects, giving you the best chance of securing the funding.

Step 3: Ensure seamless implementation and measurable results

Securing the grant is just the beginning. To maximise the impact, businesses need a reliable partner to ensure that the approved projects are implemented successfully.

  • Choose reliable technology partners:
Work with experienced specialists like Blue Llama, who understand the requirements of the grant and can deliver measurable improvements.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs):
Monitor progress to ensure the project is delivering its expected results.
  • Iterate for continuous improvement:
Review the results post-implementation and explore further optimisation opportunities.
