Hi, we need a website. Can you give me a price?
Hi, we’re kinda confused about how much a website will cost us. I’ve looked at DIY site builders but we don’t want to go down that route. We’re serious about having a professional web presence built by someone here in Jersey.

PHIL - Owner @ Blue Llama
Sure. We can help you with that.
While you can create a website yourself, will it really portray your business in it’s best light? We’ll build a website that appeals directly with your target market and converts casual browsers into paying customers. Our prices start at around £3,500 for a brochure site.

Hmmm… Perhaps we need more than just an entry level site.
Our market is quite competitive and we need to stand out from the competition. If we want something a little more advanced how much will that cost?

PHIL - Owner @ Blue Llama
The cost depends on your business’ needs.
Before we create a proposal, we like to make sure we are a good fit for your business, we carry out some investigation work learning about your market and customers, discovering yours aims and what problems are getting in your way. Only then do we work out what your requirements are.
Although we can produce a basic site for around £3.5k, most of the sites we build cost between £5k and £8k. As well as a website you might need some digital marketing to help build brand recognition and increase the productivity of your website.
Here are a couple of example projects from within that price range:

Our MD has some quite sophisticated ideas.
Brian thinks we should allow users to login and manage their own accounts. He also wants data pulled in from our cloud accounting package. Can we make that happen?

PHIL - Owner @ Blue Llama
Those things are possible! …but might not be cheap.
Generally costs rise when the website’s design and/or functionality effort increases. Perhaps a website needs some fancy graphics or video, to take payments online or link up with a cloud based service. In these cases you may be looking at over £8k. We’ve built websites where the total project cost exceeded £20k… but those websites had wings!
Here are some examples of our more advanced sites:

I think I understand.
Effectively the cost of our website will depend on the amount of effort you guys put into the design and making it do fancy things.
Will I know how much it’s all going to cost before you start?

PHIL - Owner @ Blue Llama
Of course, once we determine your requirements we provide a fixed price.
I’ll send you a proposal laying out the things we’ll do and a fixed cost for doing them. If you are happy to progress then we just need a down payment before we kick things off, we then structure additional payments over the project life cycle.

Sounds good.
What if our requirements change and we decide we need the website to do something extra?

PHIL - Owner @ Blue Llama
That’s no problem, we can accommodate change.
If you decide that you need additional or changed functionality then we’ll price this up and let you know in advance how much it will cost. We’re always 100% transparent about costs and explain exactly where your investment is going.

That seems fair. Are there any other costs I should be aware of?

PHIL - Owner @ Blue Llama
We charge around £300 per year for hosting and can provide monthly care packages.
Our web hosting is priced at £300 per year and comes with HTTPS (encryption) and a heap of security measures. We also take nightly cloud backups that can be restored in a matter of seconds.
We recommend that you take out a monthly care package to make sure your site continues to work perfectly and you get any help needed to maintain it. The price depends on the complexity of the website but typically starts from around £50 per month for a brochure site. Check out this example of our care plan to find out what it includes.

I’m keen, how should we take things forward?
