Is your website an asset or liability?
Blue Llama have turned Pink for Pink October!

What I learned from developing our new website

Last month we launched the new Blue Llama website and I’m proud to say I’m very happy with it.  You might think creating just another website would have been a simple task for a digital agency, but you’d be very much mistaken. The project sucked up time and required a lot of effort, not just from a technical perspective but more from a marketing one.  However, through all the pain I’m happy to say that not only do we have a sparkling new website but I’ve also gained a better understanding of my business!

When I get prospective clients through the door, I ask them to define their ideal customer, identify their USPs and tell me why they think their existing customers use them rather than their competition.  The answers to these questions give us a solid foundation for creating a bespoke online presence that appeals directly to their target market and converts the right people into (happy, paying) customers.  Without this understanding I think websites can feel generic and lack personality.

When I asked myself those same questions I found I didn’t really have solid answers.  It took a lot of research, brainstorming and honesty to get to a place where I could really define what Blue Llama does well and the sort of clients we like working with. While it was a little painful to get there, now armed with this information I feel I can move the company forward in the right direction.

I hope you like our new website and can identify with the messages we are trying to communicate.  I’d recommend to anyone heading up a small business to also test whether they can honestly answer the above highlighted questions too.  While it’s not going to earn you any immediate income, it could be a sound investment for the future.
